Talk therapy is the best method to cure your child of depression. Although, before you start talk therapy, you should win his confidence so that he can tell you how he feel and what's the main reason for it. After that, you can take some proactive steps to improve his mental health and wellness

The following are some proactive methods you can use to improve how your child feels:
  • Explain to him how worthy his body is. How important is it for him to be healthy? 
  • Guide him on how important his sleeping schedule is. When a child is depressed, his sleeping posture and schedule both become bad. It is good if you advise him to turn off his phone before going to bed. 
  • Give him a task to do and reward him when the task is completed. In this way, although small but confidence starts building up in his mind. 
  • Be his friend and help him learn how to face and solve problems with patience. This will help him to develop a strategy to cope with his problem in the future. 
Ultimately, it is your decision how you will cure your child's future. You should win your child's trust so that you can cure him completely and prepare him to solve similar problems inthe  future with ease. 

3. Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy or cognitive behavioral therapy is the reputed way to cure depression with ease. If your child is suffering from severe depression, then you should go for it. 

This therapy identifies negative thoughts of your child and replace it with positive ones. This is prove to be effective in overcoming fear or any other problematic situations. 

4. Medication

Taking drugs to cure depression is the last thing a parent can think of. Most parent wish their child would not use any medication just to cure depression. But when the depression is severe, taking drugs under a doctor's prescription is the need of the hour. 

Antidepressants are given to those children who attempted to suicide once. So, if your child will not take such a huge step, then it is better to avoid antidepressants. Besides, take a close look at the behaviour of your child when he is starting to open up with you. 

Meditation is also the best way to relieve stress for your child. It will soothe their mind and helps them to think in different ways.
